Bro. David Walley, Pastor

From My Heart.....

"As one who has always been intrigued by history, I count it to be an honor to be the Pastor of Union Baptist Church as this particular chapter unfolds.  I'm reminded of the words of President Abraham Lincoln in the Gettysburg Address.  "We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live.  It is all together fitting and proper that we should do this."  Of course, President Lincoln was talking about the men who died in that great Civil War battle, but we here at Union have many great warriors who waged a war of a different kind.  There were many spititual battles fought to bring us to this chapter in our history.  There were so many prayers offered on our behalf.  What a shame it will be if we fail to win the lost after so many years of hard work and earnest effectual prayer.  Let us not trample under foot the sacrifices that were made by those dear ones that are now with the Lord.

Let us honor those who have gone before us and paved the way so that we can stand at these crossroads in the history of Union Baptist Church.  Will we choose the right road?  We most certainly will if we keep our eyes on the Lord.  Is not this what Paul had in mind when he said, "Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." (NIV)"

Forgiven,

Bro. David Walley
